The seventh season of Game of Thrones fulfilled fan fantasies of seeing some of their favorite characters back together or meet on-screen for the very first time. Find out which interactions the cast members were most-excited about.
Relationships developing in new ways...
Alfie Allen, who plays Theon Greyjoy, was excited to see Sansa and Jon back together this season: “He has to listen to her and she has to listen to him and respect his leadership. You get to see the power struggle there.”
Old rivals facing-off again...
“I love Tyrion,” shared Indira Varma, the actor who portrays Ellaria Sand. Because her own exit from the season came early on, Varma was very curious to see how Daenerys’ Hand’s storyline would unfold. “What’s he going to be like with Cersei? What the hell is going to happen?” No surprise, wine was involved.
Merging worlds...
Tormund actor Kristofer Hivju thought Jorah and Daenerys’ reunion was touching, but he also loved having his own character meet the Hound for the very first time. “All of the storylines are merging together,” he explained, “and more and more people are gathering.”
A King’s Landing summit...
Pilou Asbæk, who plays Euron Greyjoy, said he was most excited for for, “The final dragon pit scene. It was f**king incredible. People who had never seen each other, people who hadn’t seen each other since Season 1, everyone. And everyone got their moment.”
The wolf and the dragon…
“I really enjoyed seeing Daenerys and Jon Snow in the same shot,” offered Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark. “They just look so great together. You see Emilia [Clarke] and Kit [Harington] hanging out all the time, but there’s something really bizarre about when they’re all in costume and these worlds start colliding. There’s a little fangirl in me that had a little freak out. That was really cool, and the ongoing joke about Kit’s height is hilarious.”
The pack coming back together...
“It has to be the Starks back in Winterfell,” Isaac Hempstead Wright, who plays Bran, said of his on-screen family. “The three of them coming back with a vengeance. My loyalties are definitely with House Stark.”
Jerome Flynn, the actor potraying sellsword Bronn, agreed, “I really enjoyed Sansa and Arya reuniting; I allowed it all to surprise me. There’s a wonderful richness about this season, these characters coming together. I found that most moving.” (He was also quite psyched about verbally sparring again with Tyrion.)
Samwell Tarly actor, John Bradley, also picked the Stark sister reunion: “Knowing the journey they’ve both been on, it’s interesting to see how it will affect, not only them as individuals, but their bond as sisters.” He continued, “Every time their journey took a little diversion, and every success and every trauma they’ve undergone, I was so hoping they would come face-to-face again, and hopefully, despite all the hardships, they’d be that family unit. But their lives aren’t simple anymore. It’s interesting to see that dynamic. When they’re the together on screen, they’re so magical. I’m very happy to see it again.”
