Game of Thrones led the pack with 32 total Emmy nominations across acting, writing, directing and creative arts categories.
After scoring previous nominations in the supporting acting categories, Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) and Kit Harington (Jon Snow) both landed their first in the lead actor and actress category, respectively.
Other fan-favorites earned their first acting nominations for the final season:
Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy) — Supporting Actor in a Drama Series
Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth) — Supporting Actress in a Drama Series
Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) — Supporting Actress in a Drama Series
Carice van Houten (Melisandre) — Guest Actress in a Drama Series
Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) earned his eighth consecutive nomination and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), Lena Heady (Cersei Lannister) and Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) all earned repeat nominations in the supporting actor and actress categories.
The series received three out of the five outstanding directing nominations:
“The Iron Throne” — Directed by David Benioff & D.B. Weiss
“The Last of the Starks” — Directed by David Nutter (who previously won for “Mother’s Mercy.”)
“The Long Night” — Directed by Miguel Sapochnik (who previously won for “Battle of the Bastards.”)
Thrones was also nominated for outstanding achievements in production design, casting, cinematography, costuming, editing, hairstyling, main title design, makeup and prosthetics, music, special effects, sound editing and mixing, stunt coordination, and writing.
